"West Creek REservation & Current Conservation Efforts - Update" by Dave Linchek, Executive Director of the WCPC
The West Creek Preservation Committee (WCPC) was founded in 1997 by a group of local citizens concerned about the mounting loss of green space in one of Cleveland's most populous neighborhoods - the City of Parma. Though the City is bisected by multiple watersheds, the West Creek watershed was the original impetus for the formation of the WSPC. West Creek is a nine-mile long tributary to the Cuyahoga River full natural, cultural, and recreational amenities; though the problem was access, use, and sustainability of them. With dedication, community buy-in, and progressive foresight, the organization set in motion a series of planning initiates and implementation objectives, all of which aimed to create a natural park and trail system that would ensure the perpetual protection of the watershed's natural, recreational and historical resources.
